The Restored Multivitamin Nutritional Information

Our high quality optimal multivitamin provides all the vitamins that men and women need every day, plus key essential minerals. Formulated based on the latest research, our Optimal Daily Health Blend provides 1,000% NRV Vitamin D3, 420% NRV copper and 142% NRV Vitamin B6, and is safe to take every day.

The NRV (Nutrient Reference Value - previously referred to as RDA) of our multivitamin supplement is formulated based on the latest research rather than outdated government recommendations, and is at the optimal levels for good daily nutrition.

Optimised Turmeric & High Strength Ginger

Our Advanced Botanical Blend combines Optimised Bioavailable Turmeric (285 times more effective than standard turmeric!) with a high strength ginger extract; equivalent to 2g of fresh ginger, complementing the vitamins and minerals for a wide range of health benefits including improved energy.

Why It’s So Beneficial to Supplement With a Complete Multivitamin

Vitamins are delicate and easily destroyed by modern living and farming methods, food storage and cooking processes, making it very hard to get them from food alone. That’s why taking a daily multivitamin is highly beneficial to health, even if your diet is already full of them.

Minerals are more robust than vitamins and are easier to get from food but supplementing is still recommended, as a diet rich in every nutrient can still be difficult to achieve because modern life is busy!

All vitamins are needed by the body but only some minerals are required for nutrition.

Why Don't We Include Magnesium and Calcium?

Our advanced formula includes iron and copper, but not calcium and magnesium. We do not recommend taking a multivitamin containing calcium or magnesium as research shows these minerals actually block absorption of iron and copper, so you won't get the benefit of them.

Calcium is a much easier mineral to get through your diet and can be obtained from milk, cheese, yoghurt, leafy greens or vegan-friendly options such as fortified soy rice or oat milk.

If you do want to supplement with magnesium we recommend having it at nighttime as it helps with sleep. See our Advanced Night-Time Nutrients which contain our MagneRest® Magnesium blend - at 30% of your daily NRV - that contributes to reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Why Vegan?

Whilst most multivitamins use Vitamin D3 from the cheap source of sheep's wool, ours is sourced from high quality lichen (from trees).

All of our ingredients are from whole food sources, meaning our multivitamin is naturally vegan, vegetarian & non-GMO.

Customer FAQs

Why is calcium not amongst the ingredients?

Although many multivitamins contain calcium, it is only possible to include a token amount, much less than the required RDA. When calcium is consumed at the same time as other minerals such as iron and zinc, their absorption is inhibited (Hallberg et al. 1992, Wood et al. 1997).  To prevent these problems, The Restored Multivitamin contains no calcium so that you can get the full benefits of the minerals in the formulation. To meet body needs for calcium we recommend consuming calcium rich foods at a different time of day to the multivitamin.

Wood et al. High dietary calcium intakes reduce zinc absorption and balance in humans. Am J Clin Nutr. 65, 1803-1809 (1997).

Why is magnesium not amongst the ingredients?

Calcium and magnesium are two minerals that should be taken together to provide maximum synergy (Durlach 1989). The Restored Complete Multivitamin does not contain calcium so that the absorption of iron and zinc is not inhibited and the absence of magnesium is deliberate so that this can be taken with calcium for maximum synergy.

To provide 100% NRV of Magnesium, the capsule would need to be very large - you would need to take three tablets just for the magnesium alone. To get the right level of magnesium in your diet, we advise eating foods with high magnesium content, such as spinach.

If you would to supplement with a very high quality magnesium, we recommend having it at bed time because it aids quality sleep. Take a look at our sleep aid which contains our MagneRest® Magnesium blend that contributes to reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Why does the Optimum Daily Health Blend comprise of ingredients over 100% of NRV?

Our Optimal Daily Health Blend comprises of:

Vitamin D3 (1000% NRV)

One of the most common vitamin deficiencies in Northern Europeans is lack of vitamin D. Even though many multivitamin supplements contain vitamin D they frequently have significant shortcomings. Many contain vitamin D2, which is less effective at raising body vitamin stores than vitamin D3 (Trang et al. 1998). Other vitamin supplements though providing vitamin D3 at RDA levels actually provide too little to elevate body vitamin stores effectively. To ensure the Restored Complete Multivitamin provides health benefits from vitamin D it is present at 1000% of the NRV. This is consistent with the recommendations from the Institute of Medicine (Ross et al. 2011)

Copper (420% NRV)

When supplementing iron it is also important to supplement copper so that body iron and copper stores can be optimised (Arredondo et al. 2006). Our Complete Multivitamin includes higher levels of copper, to specifically compliment the iron present and provide beneficial antioxidant effects in red blood cells (Rock et al. 2000).

Zinc (210% NRV)

When supplementing iron it is also important to supplement zinc so that body iron and zinc stores can be optimised (Arredondo et al. 2006). The Restored Optimal Multivitamin includes zinc at levels to specifically compliment the iron present (Jimena et al. 2002).

Vitamin C (125% NRV)

Modern living increases body requirements for vitamin C. Intensive farming and extended storage of fruit and vegetables reduce the vitamin C available from the diet. In contrast, airborne pollution increases the body’s requirements for vitamin C. These issues have become increasingly recognised in the US and as a consequence the Institute of Medicine recommend vitamin C intakes of 90mg per day for men, significantly higher than the recommendation in the UK (COMA 1991). The Restored Multivitamin contains vitamin C at a level consistent with the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine.

Iron (15% NRV)

Inadequate iron intake affects around 15% of the population, making iron supplementation extremely valuable (Lopez et al. 2015). Many multivitamins use poorly absorbed iron sources. This requires higher iron intakes to produce benefits, but come with significant risk of digestive side effects. To overcome these problems our optimal multivitamin contains iron glycinate, which is a vegan source of haem iron that is exceptionally well absorbed. This means that supplementing at NRV levels makes an effective contribution to body iron stores.

Lutein

At present there is no scientific agreement on the NRV for Lutein, however it is clear that lutein supports both visual and cognitive function (Johnson 2014).

Reference

Johnson. Role of lutein and zeaxanthin in visual and cognitive function throughout lifespan. Nutrition Reviews. 72(9): 605-612 (2014)

Boron

At present there is no scientific agreement on the NRV for boron, however it is clear that boron supports bone health. The 6mg dose in our Multivitamin directly reflects human research, which led the authors to conclude “a significant favourable response to a 6mg/day daily boron supplement was obtained” (Newnham et al. 1994).
